A Revolution is Just Below the Surface
October 2nd, 2007
From venezuelanalysis.com.
On September 21, 2007, I had the extraordinary opportunity to interview Noam Chomsky in his office at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The interview will be aired on Venezuelan and Latin American television as part of the promotion for the III International Book Fair in Venezuela, which this year focuses on the theme: “United States: Is Revolution Possible?” The transcription of the interview follows.
The truth behind ‘300’
October 2nd, 2007
For many Iranians the cinematic movie ‘300’ may come as a shocking revelation. But to those of us who came up through America’s school system, the ‘Battle of Thermopylae,’ which is what the movie ‘300’ is based on, is as familiar as George Washington’s fabled “cherry tree” episode.
The Battle of Thermopylae was of course written by the classical Greek author, Herodotus, who lived in the Persian city of Halicarnassus. His book, ‘The Histories’ became part of Western folklore only recently. It was not until about 1850 that America embraced Herodotus as the leading authority on Persian history.
The Mega-Lie Called the “War on Terror”: A Masterpiece of Propaganda
September 30th, 2007
The fraudulence of the “War on Terror” is clearly revealed by looking at the pattern of actions that preceded and followed its launch.
Since Sept. 11, 2001, the administration of George W. Bush has told and repeated a lie that is “big enough” to confirm Joseph Goebbels’ testimony. It is a mega-lie, and the American people have come to believe it. It is the “War on Terror.”

FLICK OFF
May 12th, 2007
“We have at most ten years—not ten years to decide upon action, but ten years to alter fundamentally the trajectory of global greenhouse emissions.” Jim Hansen, NASA.
FLICK OFF is a movement to fight global warming. We need you to FLICK OFF, and tell everyone you know to FLICK OFF. If everybody starts conserving energy it’ll make a huge difference. Here’s why: we burn fossil fuels for energy. Burning fossil fuels releases huge amounts of greenhouse gases. And greenhouse gases, well, they came by their name honestly. They turn our super fabulous planet into a greenhouse. The biggest culprits? Coal for electricity. And oil for cars, trucks, trains, planes and ships.
Why should we FLICK OFF? It’s simple—we waste energy like crazy. North Americans are the undisputed energy gluttons of the world. We use old, crappy, inefficient technology; we haven’t embraced wind and solar power; and we have the worst habits on the planet.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. FLICK OFF is about awareness. It’s getting people to talk about the planet—how we use it, how we abuse it, how we can change our actions. FLICK OFF is about solutions. It’s making changes in your life, every day, then telling other people how easy it was to do.
